Site History

The Sychophant started as the brainchild of Ay and Rita, on what’s now known as the “original” Tim Skold Sychophant. The four webmistresses (Ay, Nay, Rita, and Gypsy) eventually began to have creative differences, and the three present webmistresses decided to start our own fan site, which is what you see here. We dropped Tim’s name off of the title, changed sycophant to sychophant (British spelling), and launched the site in on May 2nd 2007 – only a few brief months after the launch of the first site. Shortly after we launched we gained the title “Official Unofficial”.

After about a year and a half with our old host, we decided to switch to a more reliable service, and ended up purchasing “thesychophant.com”, and after about a millisecond of downtime, relaunched on _________ which is where we are today.

FAQ

  1. There are two Sychophants? WTF?

Yes, you aren’t crazy, there are in fact two completely different sites dedicated to Tim Skold with the same name (sorta). What happened was that there were complications with the old site between the staff here, and the head of staff on the other, so the staff here decided to split. We kept the name (dropping off the Tim Skold part) because it was chosen by Ay, only we changed to spelling to the British spelling. The American spelling is sycophant. So, yes, there are two, and you may choose which you decide to affiliate yourself with.

  2. So. . . is there different info?

Yes, and no. The biography section was originally written by Rita (the head of the first fansite), and edited by Ay, but the second was re-written and double checked by Ay and Chris. The bio you’ll see on wikipedia is the complete re-written version. The discography is the same, but different, because, once again the shell of the old one was taken and added to. The equipment list was written by Ken “TJ” Gordon for The Sychophant. Our galleries are also slightly similar, but different at the same time, mostly because we (The Sychophant) have aquired the use of some exclusive live pictures, courtesy of Maddy Julien.

  3. What exactly happened with the split?

That wholly depends on who you ask, and is a personal matter that has to do with Rita, Ay, Nay, myself, and a certain person of significant importance. Don’t ask us – because you won’t get anymore info. We’d rather not put anyone in hot water.

  4. What is a sychophant?

The dictionary defines it as someone who attempts to please others in order to gain some sort of personal advantage. Are we calling Tim Skold or anyone here a Sychophant? No. It is titled as such because Tim uses the word in a lyric referring to himself. Enough said.

  5. Is everything here correct and up to date?

Yes, everything here is as current as possible, and we will only put up things that are confirmed. You won’t find any rumors here.

  6. Will Tim ever be a member of the forum?

    No.

  7. Are you in contact with Erin or Tim?

Only in the case of legality issues or questions.

  8. Tell me about the (Dead God) Demos.

The songs, I Hate, Believe, The Point, Dead God, Burn, and Don’t Pray were a collection of unreleased Skold tracks that were intended to solict as material for video games, commercials and such. They are not final mixes, or the works to a second Skold Album. They are rumored to be recorded in late 2000, and they were leaked on to the internet posing as Marilyn Manons demos from The Golden Age Of Grotesque. And yes, there are rumored to be four unreleased tracks from the demos which are If, Consequence, Don’t Ask, and Too Weird.

  9. Does Tim Have a Myspace?

His site said it best :
“Please note that Tim Skold does NOT have any accounts on myspace.com or any of the Network – Forum – Blog type sites. Every single one of those are fake, no exceptions.”Our Myspace has clearance to be there, and does not try to impersonate Tim, or distribute his music.. Other than that all others = fakes.
